Online Nursing Monograph SeriesThe first St Vincent's Hospital Nursing Monograph was published in 1990 in recognition of the diversity of nursing practice, research and educational activities undertaken by the nurses at St Vincent's Hospital. From 1998, the Monograph incorporated works from the nurses of St Vincent's Private Hospital and Sacred Heart Palliative Care. These important nursing documents have been converted by HCN as an initiative of the CIAP from the original paper format into an easily readable online version, organised by year. For further information about the publication of the Monographs, please email Sharon Wiley, Clinical Nurse Consultant, St Vincents Hospital, Sydney. Monographs
A wealth of untapped knowledge is embedded in the practices and the "know-how' of expert nurse clinicians, but this knowledge will not expand or fully develop unless nurses systematically record what they learn from their own experience. Benner, P. 1984, From Novice to Expert, Addison-Wesley, p. 11.
