The Discharge Management of Acute Coronary Syndromes (DMACS) project is a national quality improvement initiative funded and supported by the National Prescribing Service.
Follow-up Data Collection - April 2009
After having identified areas to improve on, and the development of tools to achieve improvement during the educational intervention, hospitals have begun recruitment of patients for the follow-up data collection phase. Hospitals will recruit up to 50 patients over a period of four months from April to July. Recruitment will involve a review of medical records, a patient telephone survey 3 months post discharge and a GP survey. With the implementation the various new tools, hospitals hope to see better outcomes for patients.
Educational Intervention - January 2009
Baseline results are now complete and the intervention phase is now in full swing within participating DMACS hospital sites. Areas for improvement have been identified and participating hosiptals are in the process of developing and implementing tools to facilitate imrpovements.
Workshops - November 2008
Two academic detailing workshops were held in Sydney for the NSW arm of DMACS. Each partipating hospital sent two representatives to the workshop.
Workshop 1: Monday 10th - Tuesday 11th November
Workshop 2: Thursday 13th - Friday 14th November.
A highlight of the workshops included a therapeutic briefing provided by Associate Professor David Brieger from Concord Hospital.
Participating Hospitals - March 2008
A total of 15 NSW hospitals have been recruited to participate in the DMACS project, including tertiary, metropolitan, rural and private institutions.
Seeking Expressions of Interest - February 2008
NSW TAG are currently seeking expressions of interest from NSW hospitals to participate in DMACS. Click here to download the letter of invitation. The closing date for expressions of interest is March 14th, 2008.
Teleconferences
Teleconferences are conducted each month with all NSW DMACS hospitals, to provide an opportunity for sharing of informationand lessons learned through DMACS. These monthly teleconferences will continue for the duration of the project.
