PDA Resources

The mobile CIAP

You can now download some online resources to your personal digital assistant (PDA) or Palm Pilot using your CIAP username and password. If you are already using the technology, we welcome your input. Please email the with your tips, PDA-related weblinks or any other information that we can add to this web page.

 

MIMS for PDA and MIMS DrugAlert for PDA

The MIMS on PDA and MIMS DrugAlert on PDA databases are updated each month. See the About MIMS on PDA web page for more information. (Use your CIAP username and password to access the website.)

Each year you will need to re-validate your PDA download, as follows:

  1. Go to MIMS on PDA Registration (use your CIAP username and password).
  2. Enter details in the online form. Use your current activation code.
  3. Click on Submit.

Your details go to to HCN, MIMS and CIAP. You will receive a new validation code via email. Enter the new validation code the next time you access MIMS on PDA.

Australian Medicines Handbook (pAMH) on PDA

pAMH contains over 1,500 documents, designed for ease of use on a small screen, but requires less than 6 MB.

Platforms supported by pAMH are listed below;

  • Pocket PC - 2002, 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0

* Note: Australian Medicines Handbook has withdrawn the Palm OS version of pAMH due to technical difficulties with the platform. The AMH has advised that they are focusing efforts on a new online version for smartphones and similar devices, which will work across a variety of mobile platforms. CIAP will provide further information on the new version as it becomes available.

To download pAMH you need to;

  1. Go to pAMH on HCN (use your CIAP username and password).
  2. Agree to the licensing.
  3. Download the correct version following the instructions.
  4. Register for a validation code.
  5. Enter the code the next time you access pAMH to validate your installation

Micromedex mobile solution for Palm OS and Pocket PC devices

Micromedex on PDA is available free for CIAP users and gives you information at a summary level for Drugs, Disease, Toxicology, IV Compatibility and Drug Interactions.

Thomson Clinical Expert

Thomson Clinical Xpert is the next generation of the Micromedex mobile solution for Palm OS and Pocket PC devices.

If you need to more information about what is available login to Micromedex via the front page of CIAP. The memory of a PDA is not sufficient to hold the total information available on Micromedex and summary level only is presented.

TNM Online

TNM Mobile Edition is an indispensable tool for all oncologists and other professionals who employ the TNM classification system in assessing the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with cancer.
