K2MS is an Internet based educational program
developed in the United Kingdom by the Plymouth
Perinatal Research Group. The program provides 8 hrs of online training for maternity care clinicians.
The program focuses on:
Fetal Physiology and Acid Base Balance education
The variables for interpreting intrapartum EFM
Various interactive case reviews for individual interpretation
A self assessment process as the user works through the program
Feedback on the number of users who have completed the program
Annual update and changes to the case reviews within the program
All clinicians privileged or appointed to practise Obstetrics, Trainees in Obstetric Medicine,
Registered Midwives and Student Midwives are required to complete the K2MS
training package within
working hours, or be provided with time to complete the training package in their own time.
K2 Training is required on an ongoing basis. To commence the training each participant should complete
the entire K2 package. This should take approximately 8 hours to complete. Annually, each participant should
complete 5 case studies to continually keep their knowledge updated. This should take about 1- 2 hours to
complete. The entire K2 package should be completed again every three years. Once the participant has
commenced the training package, the package should be completed within six months.
