Life memberProfessor Donald MacLellan BSc., MD., MBA., FRACS
Professor MacLellan was born in Scotland and obtained his science and medical degrees at Glasgow University. He embarked on a career of surgery and trained in Glasgow and Melbourne following his emigration in 1978. He was awarded the Surgical Fellowship in 1984 and an MD through the University of Melbourne in 1985. Post graduate training took him and his young family to Hong Kong, Texas and then England before he returned to Melbourne as a Lecturer in General Surgery. In 1991, he was appointed to his first Chair of Surgery, University of Melbourne based at the Repatriation Hospital. He then moved to Canberra as the Inaugural Professor of Surgery, University of Sydney in 1996. During his appointment in The Canberra Hospital, he also was appointed to a senior managerial position as the Executive Director of Surgery. He embarked on an MBA through Monash University and graduated in 2002. Currently, Professor MacLellan is at the NSW Department of Health where he is the Statewide Program Director of Surgery. From the time of his post graduate training, Professor MacLellan has been active in wound education and research and has widely published and presented on wound-related topics, both nationally and internationally. He has directed wound clinics in Melbourne and Canberra and was the Founder and Chairman of the Wound Foundation of Australia from 1993-1998. He is currently a Trustee of the Australian Wound Management Association Research Foundation and is Executive Director of Health Education & Management Innovations. He is delighted to have been awarded life membership in the Wound Care Association of NSW.
